Diploma of Advanced Studies in Work+Health

Since 2014, the University of Zürich, the University of Lausanne and the IST have offered a combined new postgraduate training course in occupational health: the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in Work+Health. This course replaced the Master's of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Occupational Health previously offered by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich and the University of Lausanne.

Course Objectives

The DAS in Work+Health is the only federally recognised programme in Switzerland for training occupational physicians, occupational hygienists and specialists in company health management. The course fulfils the requirements for certification as an MSST specialist (certification for occupational physicians and other occupational health and safety specialists), as well as those for the Swiss Medical Association's specialisation in occupational medicine and certification with the Swiss Association of Occupational Hygienists.

Course participants benefit from a multidisciplinary teaching style, strongly focussing on acquiring new skills and the use of practical examples. The programme is based on an innovative scientific approach to health and safety in different professional and cultural environments as well as within different company management structures and system. Participants can chose to specialise in one of the three following areas:

  • Occupational medicine
  • Occupational hygiene
  • Company health management
