Patrick Gomez est diplômé en sciences de l’environnement à l’Ecole Polytechnique de Zurich. Il a fait son travail de doctorat à l’Institut d’Hygiène et Physiologie appliquée dirigé par le Prof. Helmut Krueger sur la réponse respiratoire à stimuli affectifs visuels et acoustiques et il a obtenu le titre Dr ès sciences en 2004.

Patrick Gomez studied environmental sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich where he graduated in 1999. In 2000 he joined the Institute of Hygiene and Applied Physiology headed by Prof. Dr. Dr. H. Krueger where he started two years later his doctoral thesis entitled “Respiratory responses to visual and acoustic stimuli from a dimensional perspective of emotion”. Meanwhile, he attended the master of advanced studies “Work & Health”. In 2003 he moved to Lausanne to start working at the Institute for Work and Health. His main research field is the psychophysiology of emotion, mood and stress. His area of expertise is the characterization of peripheral physiological activity. The current research activities of Patrick Gomez can be grouped into three lines of research: “Refinement of our understanding of emotional reactivity”, “Performance anxiety in musicians”, and “Effective emotion regulation strategies”.
